Profiles

Profiles dictate how the editor will behave and look. Notaker has three profiles you can choose from. Changes to profiles are saved to your account.

Choosing a profile

When you open a document or recording on a new device, you'll be prompted to select a profile for that device. Your selection will be linked to that device and will load automatically when opening documents and recordings going forward.

There are three profiles available in Notaker, each with presets for use on specific devices.

Desktop/Laptop

Used for devices that have a keyboard and mouse. This includes but is not limited to Windows and Mac computers.

Whiteboard

Used for digital whiteboard devices. This includes but is not limited to SmartBoard, Newline, and BenQ devices. This option should not be used when using a digital whiteboard in conjunction with a desktop or laptop device.

Tablet

Used for handheld touch devices.

Changing and editing profiles

With a document or recording open, go to the menu and select Preferences to change the profile for that device or edit your current profile.

Interface

Toolbar

  • Position: determines which side of the editor the toolbar will show up on

Recording controls

  • Visible: determines whether the recording bar will be shown in open documents

Document area

  • Background color: determines the background color behind pages in the editor
  • Show scrollbars: determines whether vertical and horizontal scroll bars will be shown
  • Default page view mode: determines whether the editor will load in page or scroll mode by default

Input

Pen mode detection

  • Enabled: determines whether pen mode will be activated when a stylus is used
  • Activate on load: when enabled, pen mode will be activated as soon as the editor loads. Useful when you know you will be using a stylus with a device.
  • Show indicator: determines whether the pen mode indicator will be shown in the upper left corner of the screen when it is activated. If this is disabled, you can turn off pen mode after activating it in the menu.
  • Touch action: determines what action touch will do when pen mode is activated
    • None: All touch input will be ignored in the editor
    • Pan/zoom: Touch input will be treated as pan navigation

Gestures

  • Fist erase: when enabled, touching the screen with a closed fist will act as an eraser

Diagnostics

  • Show diagnostics: displays a diagnostics block in the editor. This should only be used if you are instructed to by support.
